WOW! What a tremendous effort – raised over $36,500.00 for Easter Seals in 2008.
We participated in two major events - Raising the Roof for Easter Seals in Calgary and a 24 hour relay in Edmonton.
Throughout the 24 hours of the Relay, we enjoyed a huge Team effort from each and every team member and we all had an immense sense of accomplishment at having once again survived the fun, but gruelling, 24 Hours! We even won the Top Corporate Fundraising Team award for the fourth consecutive year, and won the top Rookie Team for the Edmonton Relay!
The generous contribution of volunteer hours from everyone helped make the Raising the Roof campaign an exciting event!
This annual fundraising campaign is vital in three important ways:
It helps support the Equipment and Support Services Program which provides equipment through our loan pool program for people who qualify physically and financially. This equipment is truly life changing for the children, adults and seniors in our community. Some had serious illnesses like muscular dystrophy since childhood while others have had serious accidents or illnesses as adults.
It helps support the Easter Seals Camp Horizon is providing opportunities and challenges for Albertans with special needs through subsidized five-day summer camps for children and adults with disabilities and illnesses such as cancer and diabetes; Christmas camp for adults with disabilities and an augmentative communication camp for children in the spring. During its 40 years, more than 85,000 Albertans have used the camp.
And It helps support the Easter Seals McQueen Residence was built in Edmonton more than 30 years ago to provide 24-hour personal care and room and board, at a reasonable cost. Easter Seals McQueen Residence quickly became the model for residences for people with disabilities developing independent living skills. Residents self govern, setting their own house rules and making their own decisions.

2006 Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay - Calgary, Saturday and Sunday, June 10 & 11, 2006. raised over $26,000 for Easter Seals at the 24 Hour Relay and was awarded the Top Corporate Fundraising Team as well as the Top Overall Fundraising Team of the Year.
2005 Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay - Calgary, Mon, June 13, 2005 - raised $11,660 for Easter Seals at the 24 Hour Relay and were awarded the top Corporate Fundraising Team as well as the Rookie Team of the Year.
Easter Seals Drop Zone - Calgary, September 9, 2005 - real estate agents Scott Gullion and Lindsey Smith rappel down the Sun Life Building to raise money for Easter Seals.
